Montevideo, Minas, San Francisco de la Sierra & Jose Ignacio

I’ve never seen architecture like that in Montevideo. Unreal… a mix between classic European (Rome, Lisbon, Paris) and some other dimension. Where there should be a Corinthian column cap, a severe block. Where an arch on a window, a triangle/pyramid.

We spent a few days in the mountains before settling in for a week in Jose Ignacio in a fantastic concrete and glass house on the inlet sound. Fresh fish, lots of antiquing and swimming!
